Pakistan will never recognise the fake state of Israel. Minister Shireen Mazari

ISLAMABAD (PNIC): Political leaders belonging to mainstream parties, Thursday demanded that while Pakistan will never recognise the state of Israel, the Al-Quds day should be observed at national level.

These views were expressed by the speakers including the parliamentarians belonging to the PTI, PML-N and the PPP, here at ‘Al-Quds Conference’ organised by the Palestine Foundation Pakistan in Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services.

Nadir Kamal, ambassador of Palestine to Pakistan lauded the support extended by the people of Pakistan for the people of Palestine.

He said that the freedom movement of Palestine has now become a global movement, but he also lamented that the Zionist regime that has occupied up to 78 percent Palestinian land.

“We are looking for support from the people of Pakistan in future too,” Mr Kamal added.

Senator Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum, of PML-N said that the changing international political scenario demands that Pakistan has to realign its foreign policy.

He said that there is need to give serious considerations to the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, “but the role and actions of Arab League is strange and amazing.”

He referred to the case of Palestine – a member of Arab league, Senator Qayum said that the Arab League has not even granted its own members to speak freely.

“Arab league has currently suspended the membership of Syria, the rulers and monarchs of the
Arab world have forgotten the Islamic traditions and values only to please the West.”

He also criticised the policies of the US president Donald Trump with reference to recent tensions with Iran, Senator Qayum said that the belligerent attitude was only leading to more threats it the already volatile region.

The minister for human rights, Dr Shireen Mazari categorically stated that Pakistan will not and never recognise Israel, “In fact we cannot afford to recognise Israel,” she added, “As recognition of Israel will weaken our principled stance over teh Kashmir issue.”

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Thursday said that Quaid e Azam had written letter to the British prime minister of that time over the Palestine issue and Pakistani forces have helped train the Palestinian fighters in their freedom struggle.

Senator Syed added highlighted several historical events and stressed that the sacrifices made by the people of Palestine and Kashmir will not go in-vain.
However he added that the Muslim world needed to respond to the calls of oppressed people of Palestine, Kashmir and the Rohingya community.

On the other hand former senator Farhatullah Babar, who belongs to the PPP said that through wrong policies the freedom struggle of Kashmiris was viewed by the world as cross border terrorism.

He said Pakistan hyphenated Kashmir with Palestine to use Palestine as a vehicle for its narrative on Kashmir but by mishandling Kashmir policy Islamabad had also undermined the legitimate cause of Palestinian people.
“Perhaps we emphasized the jehadi character of Kashmir more than a right issue because of our own weak human rights record,”he said.

He said that Netanyahu re-elected PM of Israel last month for 5th time promised in election campaign to annex Jewish settlements in West Bank and next month the US planned to release its so called peace place. US naval fleet was in the Gulf threatening Iran and Arabs and Israel seem to fighting from the same trench to pressurize Jordan to agree to making Jordan a home for refugees.

He said, “These developments have made the Al Quds day this year far more significant.”

He added that there was no alternative to the 2 state solution and creation of an independent Palestine state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Pakistan has always supported Palestinian cause right from the days of the Quaid who in 1948 paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of Palestinians and recognised PLO as the sole representative of Palestinian people in the OIC summit in 1974 and pushed for raising Palestinian flag in the UN, he said.
