Palestinian lawmaker Abdul-Rahman Zaidan strongly denounced the Palestinian Authority (PA) security apparatuses for their persistence in detaining and persecuting university students in the West Bank, describing it as “an arbitrary and illegal behavior.”
Zaidan stated on Friday that restricting the student activities in the West Bank would only increase the tension in the Palestinian arena, affirming that the PA’s repressive acts failed to achieve results for its policy of marginalization and monopoly.
The lawmaker called on PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to put an end to his security forces’ violations against university students, saying that such actions are a disgrace to his authority.
He also urged human rights activists and groups to follow up reports on the arrest and torture of university students by the PA security apparatuses.
