OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center)10,000 Jerusalemite citizens performed Friday prayer in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem, despite the tight Israeli measures on Palestinian access to the holy shrine.
The Islamic Endowments Department in Occupied Jerusalem said that only 10,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom were elderly, had managed to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform the Friday prayer.
Local sources also said that worshipers under the age of 70 were prevented from accessing the Mosque.
Meanwhile, the Israeli police brutally attacked worshipers at Bab al-Amoud and Bab al-Asbat in Occupied Jerusalem while heading to the holy site.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that at least two youths were injured after being brutally beaten and attacked by Israeli police forces in Bab al-Amoud and Bab al-Asbat. The two injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Since early Friday morning, Israeli forces have been heavily deployed across occupied East Jerusalem, particularly in the Old City and the entrances leading to the Mosque.
Hundreds of Palestinians were forced to perform the Friday prayer in the streets near the Old City area after being barred from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Before Oct. 7, at least 50,000 Palestinians used to perform the Friday prayer in Al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly on the holy day of Friday.
