GAZA, (The Palestinian Information Center) UNRWA has warned that the Gaza Strip is undergoing massive destruction and is gradually turning into a wasteland that is no longer suitable for human habitation.
“Gaza is being completely obliterated. It is becoming a wasteland, and seems to become more and more unfit for human living,” UNRWA commissioner-general Philippe Lazzarini said in remarks published on the agency’s official X account on Sunday.
“No place is safe in Gaza. No one is safe,” Lazzarini warned.
He says “airstrikes in Gaza City and the north are intensifying. More and more people are forced to leave, disoriented and uncertain, heading into the unknown.”
“Only in the past four days, 10 UNRWA buildings have been hit in Gaza City. This includes seven schools and two clinics currently used as shelters for thousands of displaced people.”
“We were forced to stop health care in Beach (Shati) Camp, the only health care available north of Wadi Gaza. Our vital water and sanitation services are now only at half capacity.”
“Our teams, 11,000 in total, continue to provide critical services in other parts of northern Gaza and the rest of the Gaza Strip.”
“They are committed to serve their communities against all odds, while living under the most inhumane circumstances. Their determination in the face of their most inhumane circumstances is an inspiration.”
“How much longer until action is taken to reach a ceasefire?” the UNRWA chief questioned.
“Children are starving. Families are forcibly displaced. People are terrified. With the large-scale Israeli military operation happening now, political will and decision-making is needed more than ever,” he emphasized.
