120,000 worshipers perform Taraweeh prayers at Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM  (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  Around 120,000 Palestinian worshipers performed Taraweeh prayers on Friday night at the Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem, despite Israeli restrictions.

In a brief statement, the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said nearly 120,000 worshipers attended Taraweeh prayers at Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli forces imposed tight movement restrictions in the Old City, hindering access to the Mosque.

Those who were denied access to the Mosque performed prayers on the Mujahideen Road near the Lions’ Gate, in the Old City.

Taraweeh prayers are special night prayers that are performed following the Isha (night) prayer during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, Israel has tightened its restrictions on Palestinian worshipers’ access to Aqsa Mosque amid growing tensions across the occupied West Bank due to the ongoing Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip.

On the first day of Ramadan, the Israeli forces erected barbed wire on a fence around the Lions’ Gate area adjacent to the holy site.
