RAMALLAH (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Ministry of Education and Higher Education reported that 12,061 students have been martyred and 19,467 others injured since the start of the Israeli aggression war on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.
The education ministry elaborated, in a statement on Tuesday, that the number of martyr students from the Gaza Strip surged to more than 11,946 and the number of wounded students mounted to 18,858, while in the West Bank, 115 students were martyred and 609 others were injured, in addition to 466 others arrested.
The ministry pointed out that 564 teachers and administrative personnel were martyred, and 3,729 others were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and more than 153 were arrested in the West Bank.
It explained that 441 government schools and universities and 65 UNRWA facilities were bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip, while 126 schools were exposed to bombing and sabotage, 77 others were completely destroyed, and 91 schools and seven universities in the West Bank were exposed to storming and sabotage.
The education ministry confirmed that 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip have been deprived of enrollment in their schools and universities since the beginning of the aggression, while most students are suffering from psychological trauma, facing difficult health conditions.
It pointed out that the Israeli occupation forces’ repeated intrusions into the West Bank governorates of Jenin and Tulkarem spread fear among school students.
