14 killed, 30 injured in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s Beqaa region

BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), At least 14 people were martyred and around 30 others were wounded in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting areas in the Beqaa region of eastern Lebanon on Friday evening.

The attacks targeted the towns of Rayaq, Bednayel, Qasrnaba, and Tamneen.

Israel’s army claimed it hit “Hezbollah command centers” in the Baalbek area of Beqaa, while a Hezbollah source told AFP news agency that a military commander from the armed group was among the dead.

Earlier on Friday, Lebanon’s health ministry said at least three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on the Ein el-Hilweh camp, the country’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, which is located on the outskirts of the southern city of Sidon.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli drone had targeted the Hittin neighborhood of the camp.

The Israeli army claimed its forces had struck a Hamas command center in the camp, but the Hamas Movement denied that the bombed building belonged to it.

NNA said the strike on the refugee camp caused significant damage to a building that had previously been used by the joint Palestinian force responsible for the camp’s security, but was now being rented by an individual to “operate a kitchen distributing food aid.”
