Israeli Attacks Leave Thousands of West Bank Trees Damaged

RAMALLAH, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture documented on Thursday damage to 3,413 trees, most of them olive trees, in various areas of the West Bank, as a result of attacks by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and settlers during the period between December 11 and 18 of this year.

In a report published on its official Facebook page, the ministry stated that the past week witnessed a notable escalation in the pace of attacks, causing widespread damage to the Palestinian agricultural sector.

It explained that its field teams recorded damage to thousands of trees, with the governorates of Ramallah and Nablus suffering the highest proportion of damage resulting from Israeli attacks.

The report noted that the attacks included the bulldozing of agricultural land, uprooting of trees, and the destruction of hundreds of meters of irrigation networks, in addition to the killing and theft of sheep, damage to animal feed, and the destruction of poultry farms.

According to the report’s data, the total value of the damages during the mentioned period exceeded $2.5 million.

The ministry affirmed that Israel continues its policies of land seizure, issuing demolition orders, and forcing farmers to uproot their trees with their own hands, in an attempt to inflict psychological and moral harm, directly targeting the olive tree, which represents a symbol of Palestinian identity and resilience.

In a previous report, the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission revealed that Israel had seized approximately 2,800 dunums of Palestinian land during the past month of November through seizure orders, expropriation, and amendments to the boundaries of so-called “state lands.”

The commission’s data indicated that since the beginning of 2025, the occupation authorities have issued a total of 53 land seizure orders for military purposes, reflecting a marked escalation in the use of such orders under the pretext of security control over Palestinian land.
