31 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip which continues for the fourth day in a row with Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the offensive would continue for as long as necessary.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 31 Palestinians have been killed so far in the Israeli airstrikes which targeted several areas across the besieged Gaza Strip for three consecutive days.
The sudden aggression, codenamed “Operation Shield and Arrow” by the Israeli military, started on May 9 around 2 a.m local time with the assassination of three Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leaders along with their wives and several children.
Among the 31 killed Palestinians are 6 children and 3 women. At least 93 Palestinians have been also injured in the brutal Israeli airstrikes, according to the latest update issued by the Health Ministry.
The Israeli prime minister’s office has issued a statement following a security assessment, saying that ‘Israel’ will “continue to make Islamic Jihad pay a heavy price for its aggression against Israeli citizens”.
Netanyahu and War Minister Yoav Gallant added that the operation would continue for as long as necessary, as reported by Haaretz.
“We are at the height of a campaign, both offensive and defensive,” Netanyahu said in a videotaped statement issued during a visit to an air base.
Several PIJ leaders have been assassinated in the Israeli bombardment.
Gaza’s Joint Operations Room, the umbrella body of the resistance factions in Gaza that includes PIJ, said that it would continue to respond.
Hundreds of homemade rockets have been launched from Gaza into ‘Israel’ in response to the aggression.
“We will not retreat and the assassinations will only make us stronger. Our revenge continues,” Islamic Jihad said in a communique.
