SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) 38 Yemenis were martyred and dozens were injured in US attacks that targeted the Ras Issa oil port in the western province of Hodeidah on Thursday evening.
Yemeni media said, “A US aggression with a number of successive raids on the Ras Isa oil port in Hodeidah, western Yemen, killed 38 people and injured more than a hundred, noting that among the martyrs were workers and employees at the port, in addition to paramedics.”
Al-Masirah TV broadcast footage of the aftermath of the attack showing bodies scattered at the site.
The group announced earlier that nine US airstrikes targeted al-Bayda governorate in central Yemen and Sana’a governorate in the north, as part of a series of intense daily strikes by US warplanes on Yemeni governorates for more than a month.
For its part, the US military announced that its forces destroyed the Ras Isa oil port in Yemen on Thursday, aiming at cutting off supplies and funding to the Houthis.
The strikes, confirmed by the US military’s Central Command, are one of the deadliest so far in President Donald Trump’s campaign, which has involved hundreds of strikes since March 15.
The US air campaign came after Yemeni forces threatened to resume their attacks against international shipping heading to Israeli ports after Israel had cut off all supplies to Gaza and resumed its assault on the Palestinian territory on March 18, ending a weeks-long truce with Hamas.
Yemeni forces then resumed, as well, their attacks targeting US and Israeli military vessels, asserting that this was in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Since Israel began its devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Yemeni forces have launched missile attacks on Israel and targeted associated ships in the Red Sea in support of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
For its part, the Hamas Movement condemned in the strongest terms the criminal US air aggression that targeted the Ras Isa oil port in Hodeidah Governorate in Yemen.
Hamas said in a statement on Friday, “This brutal aggression is a flagrant violation of Yemeni sovereignty, a full-fledged war crime, and confirms the continuation of aggressive US policies that target free peoples who reject the Zionist and American hegemony in the region.”
Hamas added that the US aggression against the Yemeni people is an extension of the war of extermination against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the “joint American-Zionist aggression against the peoples of our nation.”
Hamas strongly condemned the World Food Program’s decision to suspend food shipments to areas targeted by airstrikes in Yemen, which exacerbates the suffering of the Yemeni people in light of the aggression and siege.
It also condemned the international silence over the US offensive against the Yemeni people who are paying the price for their adherence to their principles and support for the Palestinian cause.
Hamas expressed its full solidarity with the brotherly Yemeni people and highly valued their courageous positions in support of the Palestinian cause and praised the positions of the Ansar Allah group in supporting the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip, and their pledge to continue their support of the Palestinian people until the Zionist aggression on the Strip is halted.
It also expressed its appreciation for the steadfastness of the Yemeni people and their armed forces in the face of the US aggression, and called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn this blatant attack and stand by the Yemeni people in their legitimate right to defend their land and sovereignty.
