BEIRUT,(Palestine Foundation Information Center)The Lebanese Hezbollah party announced on Thursday that five of its fighters were killed last night in an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon.
In a statement, Hezbollah mourned the fighters including Abbas Raad, the son of the head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, Mohammed Raad. They were “martyred on the road to Jerusalem”, it added.
The Lebanese Civil Defense reported that 5 people were martyred and another was injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in the town of Beit Yahoun, in southern Lebanon.
Throughout Wednesday, the Israeli army and Hezbollah exchanged fire across the border.
They have been engaging in deadly skirmishes along the border since the Palestinian group Hamas carried out a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7.
The Israeli army claimed that it bombed last night Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon as well as two cells that attempted to launch missiles towards the Israeli soldiers.
Israeli aircrafts and artillery bombed Al-Labouneh and Wadi Hamoul areas in the western district of southern Lebanon and Naqoura and Alma al-Shaab in the south. A drone bombed the vicinity of the town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon, and two airstrikes targeted the vicinity of the town of Yater in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah announced in separate statements and declarations, on Wednesday and Thursday morning, that its fighters targeted 13 military sites of the Israeli army on the Palestinian-Lebanese border, in support of the Palestinian people and its resistance.
On Thursday morning, Hezbollah fighters targeted a house in which Israeli soldiers were stationed in Al-Manara settlement with two guided missiles, which scored a direct hit.
Hezbollah fighters targeted gatherings of Israeli infantry forces at Al-Dhahira, Jal al-Alam and Birkat Risha sites with “appropriate weapons” and hit them directly.
Meanwhile, Israeli army radio reported that about 50 missiles were fired at the settlements of the Upper Galilee, which is the largest bombing since the beginning of the war.
Hezbollah also announced that its fighters targeted a Merkava tank with a guided missile at Al-Rahib site. It added that an Israeli infantry force arrived at the location of the tank, and was targeted by guided weapons, leading to casualties among the soldiers.
Hezbollah fighters targeted Ein Zeitim base near the city of Safed (the headquarters of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the 91st Division) with 48 Katyusha rockets. They also targeted Khirbet Maer site and its artillery emplacements with projectiles.
