TULKAREM, (The Palestinian Information Center) Senior Hamas official Abdul Rahman Shadid affirmed that the heroic Tulkarem resistance attack demonstrates the failure of the Israeli military campaign that has targeted cities and refugee camps in the northern West Bank for several months.
In a press statement on Thursday, Shadid said the attack “reflects the unwavering commitment of the heroic youth of the West Bank to the path of resistance.” He emphasized that Israeli crimes will not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people or advancing its malicious plans for annexation and displacement.
Shadid saluted the free youth who understand the gravity of the moment and confront the occupation’s aggression and crimes with every means available. He called on Palestinians across all towns and villages of the West Bank to resist the occupation and the crimes of its settlers against Palestinian land and holy sites.
Two Israeli soldiers were wounded, one seriously, when an explosive device targeted a military vehicle near Checkpoint 104 at the entrance to Tulkarem in the northern occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to the Israeli army radio.
Following the explosion, the commander of Israel’s Central Command imposed a full lockdown on Tulkarem, and large forces began sweeping operations in and around the city.
In a later statement, the Israeli army announced the closure of Tulkarem’s entrances and the launch of extensive search operations as part of heightened security measures after the attack.
Meanwhile, the “Al-Quds Brigades – Tulkarem Battalion” claimed responsibility for the attack, confirming that an explosive device was detonated against an Israeli military vehicle near a checkpoint in Tulkarem, resulting in injuries.
Israeli occupation authorities continue to pursue plans to assert control over the West Bank or parts of it, amid growing talk of establishing what they call the “Al-Khalil Emirate” and separating it from the Palestinian Authority, an idea firmly rejected by Palestinians.
In parallel with the genocidal war on Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified their assaults across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. According to Palestinian sources, these attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of at least 1,017 Palestinians, the injury of around 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 18,500 individuals.
