Islamabad – Pakistan condemned on Wednesday Israeli forces’ raid into Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem and their brutal assault of Palestinian worshipers who were peacefully observing the holy month of Ramadan last night, calling upon the international community to take “immediate action” to end Israel’s “inhuman acts of violence.”
“Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the brutal attack by Israeli occupation forces beating Palestinian worshippers in the prayer hall in Al Aqsa Mosque,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch told reporters during a weekly media briefing.
“Continuous such impulsive actions from the part of Israel in the holy month of Ramadan in recent years not only violate the religious freedom of Palestinian people but also hurts the religious sentiments of Muslims around the world.”
Baloch called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility and take “immediate action to end such inhuman acts of violence against unarmed and innocent civilians.”
Baloch also made it clear that there are no diplomatic or trade relations between Pakistan and ‘Israel’, saying “Pakistan’s policy remains unchanged about Israel.”
Last night, Israeli occupation forces brutally attacked dozens of Palestinian worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque before forcibly expelling them from the site while they were observing I’tikaf.
Hundreds of women, men, elderly people, and children were staying overnight to observe the I’tikaf at the al-Qibli prayer hall. The forces used stun grenades and fired tear gas and rubber-coated metal bullets into the prayer hall. They also beat worshipers with batons and riot guns, wounding dozens and arresting between 400-500 men.
