Palestinian prisoners decided to return their meals on Thursday as a state of tension prevailed in Negev prison.
The Captive Movement in Negev prison reported that returning their meals comes as part of the escalating protest steps in response to the Israeli policy of medical neglect.
It warned that the cancer-stricken Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqqa, who is kept in Assaf Harofeh Hospital, is facing imminent risk of death, pointing out that he underwent cardiac catheterization and part of his right lung was excised.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old prisoner Asif al-Rifai is suffering from a difficult psychological condition after cancer spread all over his body.
For its part, Wade Prisoners’ Affairs Association underlined that the Israeli prison service is deliberately practicing the policy of medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners and doesn’t provide them with their medical needs.
At least 750 patients are currently held in Israeli prisons, 23 of whom are diagnosed with cancer or cancerous tumors, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society.
