Cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Daqqa refused on Monday to take his medication in the Ramla prison’s infirmary in protest at being deprived of his right to contact his family.
According to his family, prisoner Daqqa rejects the Israeli prison service’s reluctance to allow him to contact his relatives, especially in light of his critical health condition.
His family appealed to the concerned local and international institutions to intervene immediately to enable the prisoner to contact his relatives.
Meanwhile, the Israeli parole committee rejected on the same day a request submitted by Daqqa’s lawyer to grant the prisoner early parole, claiming that the anti-terrorism law applies to him, even though his actual sentence expired on March 24, 2023.
The lawyer said that he would appeal against the committee’s decision.
