GAZA, (The Palestine Information Centre) Zaher Birawi, head of the International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza, has said that the Freedom Flotilla Coalition will continue its efforts to sail for the besieged Gaza Strip through the Mediterranean waters.
“The Handala boat will continue its solidarity and awareness program in order to break the siege on Gaza,” Birawi told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Monday, adding that “the Freedom Flotilla Coalition will evaluate the first stage of its campaign.”
Birawi pointed out that the Freedom Flotilla boat, Handala, would be heading for Hamburg in Germany after it left the Netherlands city of Rotterdam on Monday.
He said that a number of German activists and Palestinian citizens living in Hamburg would receive the boat, adding that several activities would be held there as part of Freedom Flotilla’s efforts to build support for the Palestinians in Gaza before it sets sail for the Danish capital, Copenhagen, in the coming days.
He affirmed that this stage of Handala’s journey is important in the creation of a state of international solidarity with Palestine.
