WEST BANK, (The Palestine Information Centre)The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has demolished three Palestinian schools since the beginning of the current year and is threatening to raze 53 others in the West Bank, according to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
“The demolition of schools constitutes a persistent violation of the most basic human rights rules that protect the children’s right to education and healthy childhood, especially those children who live under occupation,” head of the commission Muayad Shaaban said in a statement on Saturday.
“The students of these schools are still facing a difficult situation and an unknown fate regarding the future of the education process, which will begin very soon,” Shaaban added.
He pointed out that his commission started making legal efforts recently to rebuild the three schools that had been razed during the current year, especially Jib al-Dib School in Bethlehem and Esfi School in Masafer Yatta.
He warned that the IOA also intends to demolish over 53 other schools in the West Bank, which would affect the future of more than 1,000 students.
