OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Information Centre)Amnesty International (AI) has condemned an Israeli court’s decision to demolish the house of the Palestinian child Mohammed al-Zalbani who has been held in remand for six months.
In a press statement on Tuesday, AI said that the Israeli decision to demolish Zalbani’s house is a grave violation of the international laws and conventions and amounts to a war crime.
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli Supreme Court decided to demolish Zalbani’s house despite a petition submitted by the Israeli human rights organization, HaMoked, against the decision.
In February 2023, Mohammed al-Zilbani, 13, carried out a stabbing operation against an Israeli officer at the entrance of Shufat refugee camp to the north of occupied Jerusalem.
Following the operation, the Israeli army ordered the demolition of the residential apartment of Mohammed’s family, where his parents and three siblings live.
Since the beginning of 2023, Israel has demolished 15 Palestinian structures in Jerusalem or the West Bank that belong to families of martyrs or prisoners.
