BEIRUT, (The Palestine Information Centre)A ceasefire came into effect on Friday evening in Ein al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon.
Palestinian sources reported that the ceasefire was declared following the intervention of the head of the Lebanese Southern Intelligence Division Colonel Suhail Harb.
“The ceasefire was achieved after the Palestinian Joint Action Committee held intensive contacts with the Lebanese security services on Friday morning,” local sources reported.
Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha said that the Movement organized a series of meetings to stop the ongoing armed clashes that threaten the security of the Palestinian refugee camp.
Earlier in the morning, clashes renewed in Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp after calm was maintained for some hours following the night armed clashes that resulted in injuring 20 people
