GAZA, (The Palestine Information Centre)The joint operations room of the Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip launched on Tuesday morning a large-scale military exercise dubbed “al-Rukn ash-Shadeed 4” (strong corner) to emphasize their readiness to confront the Israeli occupation.
The maneuvers have coincided with the National Day marking the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army and Jewish settlers from Gaza in 2005 following years of resistance strikes.
A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the maneuvers started with a salvo of rockets being fired towards the open sea and amid the intensive presence of resistance fighters in different areas of Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian interior ministry deployed police forces across Gaza to help the resistance factions complete their maneuvers safely and successfully.
“The Palestinian resistance factions are carrying out joint maneuvers across the Gaza provinces — from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.,” a spokesman for the interior ministry said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
According to the spokesman, security measures will be taking place during the maneuvers, which involve sounds of gunfire and explosions and noticeable movement of resistance fighters as well as security, medical and civil defense vehicles.
In addition to the closure of some coastal roads, the Gaza Sea will also be blocked temporarily to fishermen and citizens, the spokesman pointed out.
