Karbala, (The Palestine Information Centre) The ongoing two-day International Palestine Conference titled “The Call of Al-Aqsa, Palestine and Imam Hussain” has started in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq. Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaquat Baloch, who led the Pakistani delegation, spoke at the opening ceremony. It should be noted that Jamiat Ulema Pakistan president Sahibzada Abu Al Khair Muhammad Zubair, Jamaat Ahly Haram Pakistan chief Mufti Gulzar Naeemi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asrar Abbasi and Palestine Foundation Pakistan Secretary General Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam are participating in the delegation.
There are more than two hundred scholars, intellectuals, and political figures including members of parliament and senators from sixty-five countries of the world, including Palestine, at the conference. Among those participating in the conference are elders from different religions and all sects of Muslims, while the families of Palestinian martyrs are also participating in the conference.
Parents of Palestinian youth prisoners are also participating in the conference, and are speaking about the hardships their young children are enduring in the oppressive Zionist Israeli prison.
Important leaders of Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Pakistan, South Africa, Iran, Sri Lanka, Chile, Russia, and other countries spoke at the beginning of the conference.
The opening ceremony of the conference was held in the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (A.S.), where the leaders of different countries were addressed. Leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Liaquat Baloch said that Imam Hussain taught us to stand firm against oppressive systems and not hesitate to sacrifice any valuable things in the battle of right and wrong. He said that the people of Pakistan were and will always be against the ongoing atrocities in Karbala of Palestine, this is the lesson of Imam Hussain. On this occasion, the participants of the conference raised slogans of Labik ya Hussain Labik Ya Aqsa.
After the opening ceremony of the conference, all the participants offered congregational prayers in the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) under the leadership of the guardian of the holy shrine Mr. Abdul Mahdi Karbalai and presented a practical example of the unity of Muslims.
