DOHA, (The Palestine Information Centre)Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq has strongly denounced the joint statement that was issued by the US administration and some European countries last night, in which they announced their support for Israel in its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
In press remarks on Tuesday, Resheq said that such a position confirms once again the double standards of these parties and their blatant bias in favor of the Israeli occupation state and its terrorism.
He added that this position would encourage the Israeli occupation regime to persist in and escalate its crimes against the Palestinian people.
Last night, the leaders of the US, the UK, Germany, France, and Italy expressed support for Israel and its aggression against Gaza, ignoring its ongoing crimes against the Palestinians across the occupied territories and also the Palestinian people’s right to defend themselves.
US President Joe Biden, British Premier Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni spoke by phone on Monday.
Their joint statement voiced their “steadfast and united support to the state of Israel” and “unequivocal condemnation of Hamas” and what they labeled as “its appalling acts of terrorism.”
Ignoring the current Israeli massacres in Gaza, those leaders stressed that their countries would “support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people against” what they called “atrocities.” They said the five countries would remain “united and coordinated.”
For the fourth consecutive day, Israel continues its massive bombardment of Gaza day and night, hitting residential buildings, mosques, schools, and public facilities and killing civilians indoors and outdoors.
The number of Palestinians massacred by Israeli forces in Gaza has risen to 704 martyrs, the Gaza-based health ministry said early Tuesday.
The ministry added that the death toll includes 143 children and 105 women.
It also said the number of wounded citizens has risen to around 4,000.
