ISLAMABAD,(Palestine Foundation Information Center)Religious scholars and Mashaikh from all over Pakistan met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi on Friday, November 17.
Secretary General of Palestine Foundation Pakistan (PLF) Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam also attended the meeting at the invitation of the COAS. Among those who participated in the meeting were the leading scholars of all schools of thought and Mashaikh and intellectuals.
Secretary General of PLF, Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, in a special conversation with the daily Quds News Agency, said that in the meeting with the COAS of Pakistan, all the religious leadership of the country, including the caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Aneeq Ahmed, federal adviser Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Former Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Amin ul Hasanat, Mufti Muneebur Rahman, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Allama Amin Shahidi, Allama Iftikhar Naqvi, Pir Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Pir Syed Saadat Ali Shah, Allama Baqir Zaidi, Allama Shabir Hasan Maithmi, Allama Hasnain Gardizi, Mufti Dr Raghib Naimi, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Pir Syed Haider Gilani, Pir Khawaja Mudassar, Mufti Gulzar Naimi and members of the Islamic Ideological Council, including all the major scholars across the country attended.
In the meeting, the important issues facing the country were discussed in detail. COAS General Syed Asim Munir identified Pakistan’s Afghan policy including social media and the behind-the-scenes terrorist elements involved in the recent wave of terrorism. In the meeting, the issue of Palestine got a special status.
Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said that Pakistan’s policy on the Palestine issue is clear from the establishment of Pakistan and as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had said that if Israel is not recognized then we are committed to it and we say That Israel will not be recognized by Pakistan. He said that the human tragedy is being born in Gaza due to the Israeli aggression. We have strongly condemned the Israeli aggression at every forum and condemn the recent aggression on Gaza. We have also asked the US government to play a positive role in ending the war on Gaza, he added. He said that the governments that are silent on the aggression on Gaza today should remember that tomorrow is the turn of everyone. We have not learned lessons from Afghanistan including Libya, Syria and Iraq. He emphasized on the unity of Muslim countries and said that all problems including Gaza can be faced by Muslims only through unity.
General Syed Asim Munir emphasized on the issue of negative u
se of social media in Pakistan as part of a deliberate conspiracy and said that it is the responsibility of all of us to give mental training to the youth to bring them on the right path. He said that today the minds of our young generation are being confused by lies and fake news on social media which directly affects the progress and development of the country. The Army Chief pointed out the role of scholars in attracting the youth to intellectual and technical sciences as well as the understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah and character building, saying that we need more dignified youth in the society than the youth with degrees.
General Syed Asim Munir while discussing the Afghan policy in detail made it clear that no terrorist group will be allowed to play with the peace and security of Pakistan. He said that there will be no talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). They shed the blood of our Pakistanis and how should we talk to them?
COAS said that we are fighting to deal with all the problems including ending terrorism, ending corruption. He said that the process of negotiations with the Afghan government is going on, but at any level, the rights and security of Pakistani citizens will not be allowed to be harmed. He said that we are determined to protect the blood of each and every Pakistani.
General Syed Asim Munir clarified Pakistan’s unequivocal stand on security and safety and said that Pakistan belongs to all Pakistanis without any religious, provincial, tribal, linguistic, ethnic, communal or any other discrimination.
Use of force and armed action by an organization or group is unacceptable. COAS added.
The prominent and leading forum of Ulema and Mashaikh urged the Afghan government to take serious steps to remove Pakistan’s reservations. The forum fully supported Pakistan’s position and reservations on terrorism originating from Afghan soil. The Forum unanimously supported the Government of Pakistan’s measures to repatriate illegal aliens, to implement a documentation system, to counter smuggling and hoarding, including electricity theft. COAS also appreciated the religious scholars’ fatwa “Paigham-e-Pakistan” for ending the misleading propaganda spread by terrorists.
In the meeting, the scholars and senior elders unanimously condemned extremism and terrorism and sectarianism and were determined to play their role to deal with these problems at the level.
Scholars and elders from all over Pakistan also fully supported Pakistan’s Afghan policy and announced to continue supporting the ongoing actions of COAS General Syed Asim Munir.
