MOSCOW(Palestine Foundation Information Center)The Russian foreign ministry expressed its appreciation to the Hamas Movement on Thursday for releasing two Russian female captives and affirmed its commitment to work towards the swift release of its nationals held in Gaza.
The ministry’s statement conveyed gratitude to the Hamas leadership for responding to its urgent calls in this regard and pointed to ongoing efforts to secure the release of other Russian citizens in Gaza.
Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas released these two Russian women in response to President Vladimir Putin’s request. They were handed over to the Red Cross in Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
Last week, al-Qassam Brigades released one Russian citizen, Ron Krivoy, as a gesture of gratitude to President Vladimir Putin over its supportive position on the Palestinian cause.
The Russian foreign ministry did not specify the current number of Russians still detained in Gaza.
