DOHA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, has discussed developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories with the Political Bureau Chairman of Hamas, Ismail Haneyya, on Monday, according to an official Qatari statement.
It added that Sheikh Tamim discussed with Haneyya his country’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, adding that the Emir affirmed his country’s support for the Palestinian cause and pointed to the importance of Palestinian unity to attain the people’s national aspirations topped by their right to an independent Palestinian state.
A prisoner exchange deal was debated in a meeting in Doha on Sunday to be followed by another meeting in Cairo in the presence of representatives of Egypt, Qatar, US, and Israel and later with a Hamas delegation.
