Islamabad Conference Calls for Official Recognition of Quds Day & Ceasefire in Gaza

Islamabad  (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  Political and Religious leaders demand the official celebration of Quds Day, an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and assured assistance for Palestinians. Under the auspices of the Palestine Foundation Pakistan, Islamabad, a Palestine Conference was held at a local hotel in Islamabad during the month of Ramadan as part of the Ramadan for Palestine campaign.

The conference was presided over by Secretary-General Palestine Foundation Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, and special guests included senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party Nayyar Bokhari, Head of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, Former Member of Parliament and Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Mian Muhammad Aslam, Nasir Shirazi, Renowned journalist and Anchorperson Harmeet Singh, Dr. Ali Abbas, among others.

The organizers and participants of the conference unanimously approved a joint resolution, demanding that the government of Pakistan celebrate Quds Day at the official level and organize events.

Speaking at the conference, Senior Leader Pakistan Peoples Party Nayyar Bokhari said that we should boycott Israeli companies for solidarity with Gaza. The government should take steps to help Palestinians, otherwise, the people will step forward to help them.

Chairman of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, said in his address that the war in Gaza has defeated not only Israel but also America. He said that America wanted to create Greater Israel and break the Islamic countries near Israel. He said that the Resistance Forces have surrounded America, the oppressed of Gaza have fought the world’s war, Palestinians have shown unprecedented patience, while America is a scared and defeated army. Despite everything, Palestinians did not raise the white flag.

Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Mian Aslam, said that 32,000 martyrdoms have occurred but the global conscience is silent. Entire Gaza has been devastated, more bombs have been dropped than atomic bombs, despite the Islamic countries having millions of armies, they could not stop these atrocities. 175 days have passed but not a single Palestinian said that Hamas’s decision was wrong. Israel used to fight outside before, now it is fighting inside, Israel has completely lost the war. We were charged with sticks and our banners were torn in Pakistan for supporting Gaza, Pakistan should have supported Palestinians practically along with accepting resolutions.

Chairman of Tahreek Nojawan Pakistan Abdullah Gul, said that until we raise the banner of knowledge, Jihad, issues will not be resolved. Israel has made all international forums helpless, from Amnesty International to all international organizations, failed to persuade Israel. We cannot take cheap gas, petrol, and electricity from Iran because we are afraid that America might get angry.

Head of a Research institute Scholar and Expert Nasir Abbas Shirazi, said in his address that despite all its power and atrocities, Israel could not defeat the determination and independence of Palestinians. Gaza is completely an open-air jail, half of the population of 25 million was born in this jail. At this time, every family has a martyr, more than one hundred thousand people are injured, sixteen thousand women have died. Supporting Gaza is a duty for all conscientious human beings, despite all the tyranny, Palestinians’ determination, patience, and morale could not be broken.

A large number of women, lawyers, journalists, and members of civil society were also present at the conference.
