GAZA(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The municipality of Gaza City has warned the health and environmental crises are worsening and diseases and epidemics are spreading in the city due to waste pile-up and sewage overflow.
“The health and environmental catastrophe in Gaza has deepened, with approximately 100,000 tons of waste piling up in Gaza City alone. This issue, combined with insufficient water supply, high summer temperatures and 10 months of aggression, fosters conditions conducive to the spread of infectious diseases and different health issues among the population,” the municipality said in a statement on Sunday.
Since the war on Gaza started last October, the Israeli occupation army has destroyed about 126 municipal vehicles and 60 water wells, not to mention the destruction of various health and service facilities and the uprooting of about 60,000 trees across the city, according to the municipality’s statement.
The municipality called on international, regional and local organizations to swiftly intervene to rescue Gaza City from its humanitarian crises and provide it with its needs of equipment, spare parts and fuel to help it alleviate this dire health situation.
