NEW YORK(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The United Nations called for holding Israeli occupation soldiers accountable for sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner in the Sde Teiman detention center after footage caught on surveillance cameras went viral on social media.
This came in the words of the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, during a press conference in New York, in response to a question related to the inhumane practices that Palestinian prisoners are exposed to in Israeli jails.
The UN official added, “We have published special reports about our concerns over the status of Palestinian detainees.”
“Our colleagues working in the field of human rights in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories will continue to follow up on all these allegations,” he underscored.
The UN official stated, “We believe that all these allegations related to violating human rights’ basic criteria must be comprehensively investigated and that accountability must be guaranteed.”
