GAZA(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement’s armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades, pledged allegiance to the new leader Yahya Sinwar, the Brigades’ spokesman, Abu Obeida, said on Friday.
“We announce our full readiness to implement his decisions,” Abu Obeida added in a statement on Telegram.
He added that choosing Sinwar to replace “our martyred leader Ismail Haneyya shows that Hamas is coherent and strong.”
Last Tuesday, Hamas named Yahya Sinwar as its new political bureau chairman, replacing Ismail Haneyya who was assassinated in Tehran last week.
The Hamas Movement announced in a terse statement that Sinwar, who was its leader in Gaza, would replace Haneyya as the supreme leader of the Movement.
Since 2017, Sinwar has served as the Movement’s leader in the Gaza Strip. He will now become leader of its political wing.
