OCCUPIED JERUSALEM,(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Imam of Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, said that the Israeli government is seeking with all its efforts to divide the Mosque temporally and spatially, by intensifying Jewish settlers’ incursions into its courtyards and preventing Palestinian worshipers’ access.
Sheikh Sabri, who was banned from entering Aqsa Mosque a few days ago, considered the storming of the Aqsa Mosque by more than 2,000 settlers, led by far-right ministers Ben Gvir and Goldknopf, under police protection to commemorate the so-called “destruction of the temple” as an attack on the holy sites and “crossing all red lines.”
The settlers are exploiting the “Jewish holidays” to impose a new fait accompli in the holy site, he added.
He further explained that the Israeli government is seeking with all means possible to divide the Mosque temporally and spatially, by preventing Palestinian worshipers from entering Aqsa, while facilitating the settlers’ incursions.
He also pointed out that the Israeli occupation is exploiting the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip to take full control over the holy site.
Sheikh Sabri stressed that the settlers’ storming and violations will not impose a fait accompli in Aqsa Mosque, and the people of Jerusalem will continue to defend their Mosque and holy places.
