GAZA(Palestine Foundation Information Center) Footage released on Friday showed Israeli occupation forces (IOF) storming mosques in the besieged Gaza Strip and burning copies of the Holy Quran in one of them.
Al-Jazeera said it obtained the footage from video taken by Israeli soldiers and drones that were found in Gaza.
The footage showed Israeli soldiers storming the Bani Saleh Mosque in the northern Gaza Strip and then tearing up and burning copies of the Quran, the Muslims’ holy book, inside the mosque.
The footage also showed Israeli soldiers blowing up the Grand Mosque in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, one of the oldest mosques in the Strip, built 96 years ago.
Israeli warplanes had previously destroyed the historic Great Omari Mosque in the Old City of Gaza, which is one of the oldest mosques in the world.
In the course of the Israeli occupation army’s 11-month aggression on Gaza, hundreds of mosques have been partially or completely destroyed.
According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, the Israeli army has completely destroyed 609 mosques, partially damaged 211, and destroyed three churches across Gaza since October 7, 2023.
