GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) UNRWA has warned that disease-spreading insects and rodents are threatening people’s health and well-being in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
“Sanitary conditions in Gaza are worsening by the day. Insects and rodents can spread diseases, threatening people’s health and well-being,” UNRWA said in a post on X on Tuesday.
“UNRWA teams are working to help displaced families in shelters stop them from invading people’s already crammed living spaces,” it added.
On Monday, UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres lashed out at Israel’s handling of its war in the devastated Gaza Strip, now almost in its second year.
“It is unimaginable, the level of suffering in Gaza, the level of deaths and destruction have no parallel in everything I’ve witnessed since becoming secretary-general,” Guterres told Agence France-Presse (AFP).
“Nothing justifies the collective punishment of the Palestinian people, and that is what we are witnessing in a dramatic way in Gaza,” he added.
