UNRWA: People in Gaza eat once every two days

GAZA  (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has cautioned that the Palestinian people in Gaza are eating, on overage, once every two days, casting light on the famine crisis as a few amounts of aid trucks are allowed into the enclave.

According to UNRWA, there is a severe food shortage in Gaza, with 83 percent of required aid food is being blocked from reaching two million displaced Palestinians.

On average, people have one meal every other day, the UN agency added.

To mitigate the effects of malnutrition, UNRWA and World Food Program distribute high-energy biscuits to children during recreational activities.

Since the start of the war, 36 children have died of malnutrition, while the lives of 3,500 children are at risk due to the Israeli systematic starvation policy.

UNRWA also warned that the delivery of critical humanitarian supplies will be complicated for relief agencies as winter approaches, and may bring worsening conditions in light of damaged roads and war-ravaged infrastructure in Gaza.

“Despite the chronic lack of humanitarian supplies and constant challenges, UNRWA teams in Gaza continue reaching as many people as possible with critical aid,” it confirmed.
