TEHRAN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation army launched a large-scale attack on Iran at dawn Saturday, targeting multiple sites, while Iranian military and security sources said that the country’s air defense forces dealt with the incident.
The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that at around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, some loud explosion sounds were heard in Tehran, quoting an Iranian security source as saying that these sounds were caused by air defense activity in Tehran.
The Iranian security source added that the air defense forces succeeded in dealing with the attack.
The source called on citizens not to pay attention to rumors, affirming that some of the footage and images circulated by media outlets are old, pointing out that an investigation started to know the details of the Israeli attack.
As Iranian media report none of the military sites belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been hit, the Israeli army claims it struck military sites in Iran early on Saturday in retaliation for Tehran’s attacks on Israel earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes targeted some military sites in Syria’s central and southern parts at dawn Saturday, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
Syrian air defense forces intercepted missiles launched by the Israeli army “from the direction of the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights and the Lebanese territories” and shot down some of them, SANA said.
