Israeli army bombards sites in northern Syria’s countryside

DAMASCUS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli army launched air raids early this Saturday morning on sites in the Aleppo and Idlib countrysides in northwestern Syria, resulting in injuries to several military personnel and material losses.

Syrian media reported that an Israeli bombardment targeted the Scientific Research Complex in the Safira area of Aleppo countryside early this morning. It was also mentioned that the bombardment targeted defense factories and positions of armed groups in the area. Additionally, there were reports of intensive flights by unidentified aircraft in the skies over southern Syria prior to the strikes.

Last Tuesday, Israeli warplanes carried out raids on the town of Qusair in Homs province near the Lebanese border, with the Israeli army claiming to have targeted weapon depots belonging to Hezbollah.

On Monday, the Israeli army announced that it had bombed a Hezbollah intelligence headquarters in southern Damascus, Syria. With the onset of the current aggression on Lebanon, raids have increased within Syria and the border area with Lebanon under the pretext of striking Hezbollah’s capabilities, particularly regarding the transfer of weapons.

At the end of last month, Syrian media reported that explosions were heard in Tal al-Jabiya in the western countryside of Daraa province in southern Syria, amid reports that they were the result of an Israeli bombardment. The local site “Gathering of Free Horan” stated that Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on Tal al-Jabiya in the western countryside of the province.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented 131 aggressions carried out by Israel targeting Syrian territory since the beginning of 2024, including 106 aerial and 25 ground attacks.
