WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has described the car-ramming operation that happened near al-Khader town in Bethlehem on Monday evening as a “powerful message to the extremist Israeli occupation government and its minister Smotrich,” who threatened to extend sovereignty over the West Bank.
“The operation is a natural response to the occupation’s brutal aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and confirms that the resistance will not rest as long as the occupation and its crimes persist,” Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday.
Hamas expressed its belief that the Israeli attempts to impose sovereignty over the West Bank would be doomed to failure, stressing that the West Bank would remain a thorn in the Israeli occupation’s side
“The heroic operations in the occupied West Bank confirm the resistance’s determination to overcome all the occupation’s obstacles and security measures and prove its ability to strike the enemy and deal painful blows to it,” Hamas said.
The Movement called for carrying out more painful operations and showing more popular anger against the Israeli occupation state until its removal from the Palestinian land.
Far-right Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Monday that 2025 would be the year to fully annex the West Bank and eliminate what he called “the danger” of a Palestinian state, stressing that the victory of US president-elect Donald Trump would be an asset to achieve this goal.
