NAZARETH (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Extremist Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared his objection to signing a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, calling on Israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu, to continue the war until achieving “absolute victory.”
This came in statements by Ben-Gvir on Monday following news on the possibility of reaching a ceasefire in Lebanon in the coming few days.
Ben-Gvir considered the agreement with Lebanon “a grave mistake and a waste of a historic opportunity to eliminate Hezbollah”, which he described as “weak and yearning to stop the war.”
Israeli military leaders had previously confirmed that their goal from the war in Lebanon was to “weaken Hezbollah and push it back beyond the Litani River, not to eliminate the party.”
Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem confirmed his party’s ability to continue fighting, as Sunday witnessed the largest number of missile attack on Tel Aviv.
Sirens also sounded more than 500 times on Sunday, as Hezbollah shelled Tel Aviv and various areas, forcing about four million Israelis to rush to shelters.
This came while news went viral on Netanyahu’s approval of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, amid expectations of signing it in the “coming days”, as negotiations continue to discuss the points of contention.
