DOHA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The State of Qatar welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and expressed its hope that it will lead to a similar agreement to stop the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip as well as the Israeli attacks on the West Bank.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement on Wednesday, that the State of Qatar hopes that all parties will comply with the ceasefire agreement, the immediate cessation of military operations, full implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and that this agreement will lead to more comprehensive consensus that achieves permanent peace and complete stability in the region.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated “Doha’s fixed position towards Lebanon and the unity and safety of its lands, and its constant standing by the brotherly Lebanese people.”
The statement also expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the efforts of the US and France, which contributed to reaching this agreement.
The Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement took effect at 4:00 am on Wednesday, Beirut time (2:00 GMT), to end the military confrontations that erupted on October 8, 2023.
