Despite ceasefire, Israeli army prohibits Lebanese citizens from returning to southern villages

BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli army warned on Friday the Lebanese citizens against returning to their homes in some of the villages on the southern border, in contrary to the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a post on X, “To the residents of Lebanon, you are prohibited until further notice from moving south to the line of the following villages and their surroundings: Shebaa, Al-Habbariyeh, Marjeyoun, Arnoun, Yahmor, Al-Qantara, Shaqra, Barashi, Yatar, Al-Mansouri.”

“At this stage, you are prohibited from returning to your homes from this line south until further notice, and anyone who moves south of this line exposes himself to danger,” he added.

The army had previously warned the Lebanese citizens against returning to more than 60 other villages in the south of the country, for unreleased reasons.

The ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel came into effect at dawn on Wednesday, ending battles between the two sides that have continued since October 8, 2023, and expanded in the last two months.
