GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement welcomed the final statement of the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit, which was held in Kuwait on Sunday.
Hamas appreciated “the support of our brothers in the Arab Gulf states for our Palestinian people in their struggle against the fascist Israeli occupation.”
“We call on our brothers in the GCC to exert more efforts and exercise all forms of pressure to stop the brutal war of genocide waged by the fascist occupation against our people in the Gaza Strip, and to work to break the siege imposed on more than two million Palestinians who are facing systematic starvation and daily massacres.”
In the final statement of the summit, the GCC leaders urged an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, following calls for a truce by host Kuwait after nearly 14 months of the Israeli genocidal war in the Palestinian territory.
The six-member body called for an “immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli fire and military operations” as well as “the delivery of all humanitarian and relief aid and basic needs to the residents of Gaza.”
Earlier, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah called on the international community to implement “an immediate ceasefire, provide international protection for innocent civilians and ensure the opening of safe corridors and the arrival of urgent humanitarian aid.”
In his address, Sheikh Meshal hit out at what he characterized as the “double standards in the application of relevant international laws, charters and resolutions,” which he said had undermined “the region’s security and stability.”
