SALFIT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A group of Jewish settlers set fire to a mosque in the Marda village, north of Salfit, northwest of the West Bank at dawn on Friday.
According to eyewitnesses, the settlers stormed the eastern part of the village, set fire to the Bir al-Walidain mosque, and sprayed racist slogans on its walls.
Local residents were able to extinguish the fire, limiting the damage to the mosque’s entrance only.
The Director of Awqaf in Salfit, Othman al-Din, condemned the attack as a criminal act against worship places, warning of similar attacks against Islamic sanctities by Jewish settlers.
In the same context, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs called on the international community and human rights organizations to take action against such crimes and hold their perpetrators accountable.
