Israel withdraws from village in southern Lebanon, continues to violate ceasefire

BEIRUT   (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli army withdrew from the town of Bani Hayyan in the Marjayoun District in southern Lebanon on Friday, two days after they infiltrated it and carried out bulldozing, bombing and home demolition operations in it.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued bombing a number of villages, including the Halta’s outskirts, in violation of the recent ceasefire agreement.

The Bani Hayyan Municipality stressed that Israel is renewing its attacks on Lebanon by land, sea, and air, in violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, with absolute disregard to the international community, which effectively contributed to establishing a mechanism for implementing the resolution in the south Litani area.

In a statement on Thursday, the Municipality called on all national and international parties to work immediately to “force the Israeli army to withdraw from the town, as its homes and worship places have been deliberately destroyed and its infrastructure has been bulldozed without any deterrence.”

In the same context, Israeli forces continued to prevent the residents of more than 60 southern villages from returning to their homes.
