Hamas mourns journalist Shada, accuses PA forces of deliberately killing her

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has mourned journalist Shada as-Sabbagh, who was martyred after being deliberately targeted by Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces during her presence outside her relatives’ house in Jenin refugee camp.

In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said that journalist Shada is the sister of martyr Mutasim Sabbagh, a resistance fighter from al-Qassam Brigades, accusing the PA security forces of cold-bloodedly and intentionally killing her.

Hamas affirmed that the PA security services have a “black record of crimes against their own people, which include killing, detention and torturing.”

Hamas added that the PA security operation in Jenin camp reached “dangerous and unprecedented” levels of brutality, describing their violations as “similar to what the Israeli occupation forces do against the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

The Movement urged the PA leadership to respond to the national initiatives that call for stopping its security campaign in Jenin camp.

In a related context, the family of journalist Shada as-Sabbagh held the PA leadership and its security services directly responsible for the crime of killing its daughter in Jenin camp, stressing that the PA security services “turned into repressive tools whose mission is terrorize their own people instead of protecting their dignity and standing up to the occupation.”

In a statement, the family explained that Shada was standing outdoors with her mother while carrying little kids in a fully lit neighborhood when a PA sniper targeted her, adding that there were no clashes or security threat in the area.

The family said that this crime against her daughter highlighted “the dangerous moral deviation of the PA security forces, which target their own people instead of resisting the Israeli occupation.”

On Sunday evening, a PA sniper fired a bullet directly at journalist Shada, killing her instantly, according to eyewitnesses.
