OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation government plans to build thousands of housing units and projects for Jewish settlers in east Jerusalem, including a religious school in the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
According to Haaretz newspaper on Thursday, there is a major Israeli plan that includes the construction of about 9,000 settler homes on the site of the Jerusalem International Airport in Qalandia, which is adjacent to Kafr Aqab village.
In recent years, the Israeli occupation authority approved the plan to build a Jewish settlement on the land of the airport, which was established in 1920 before it was closed to all civilian traffic following the outbreak of the second Intifada in 2000.
Haaretz added that the Israeli district planning and building committee also discussed multiple plans to be carried out in east Jerusalem, including the construction of an eight-story religious school for settlers in the heart of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Haaretz also said that the Israeli government intends to discuss a plan to expand the settlement of Givat Shaked near Sharafat village in the southeast of Jerusalem and build 700 settler homes.
