GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A Hamas official told Reuters on Monday that 25 of the 33 Israeli captives who are being released as part of the first stage are alive.
The official said Israel had received the list from the mediators of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Israeli government spokesman David Mencer later confirmed the list showed that eight captives are dead.
For his part, Nahid Al Fakhouri, head of Hamas’s Media Office for Martyrs, Wounded, and Prisoners, clarified that “the third stage of the first phase stipulates the release of 30 Palestinians serving life sentences and 20 with high sentences.”
The deal also includes the release of 60 child prisoners under the age of 19, he added.
The Hamas Movement has held the Israeli occupation government responsible for any disruption that may affect the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and its remaining stages.
“The occupation is still stalling the implementation of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement through persisting in blocking al-Rashid street and preventing the return of displaced people who try to go by foot from the south to the north,” Hamas said in a statement on Saturday.
