GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) revealed that Gaza resident Musab Haniyeh, 35, has died in an Israeli prison.
The Israeli army in a response confirmed Haniyeh’s death in January but made no mention of the cause, the rights groups added.
He did not suffer from any health problems before his arrest, according to his family. The rights groups said Haniyeh was arrested from Hamad City on March 3, 2024.
“The occupation indicates that an investigation is underway in an attempt to evade any international accountability,” the joint statement added.
According to Palestinian figures, at least 59 detainees have died in Israeli prisons since Oct. 7, 2023, including 38 prisoners from Gaza.
Thousands of Palestinians are believed to have been detained by the Israeli army in Gaza during its genocidal war on the enclave.
Human rights organizations have warned that more prisoners might die in Israeli prisons amid systematic torture, starvation, medical neglect, physical assaults, and sexual violence against the detainees.
