NAZARETH (Palestine Foundation Information Center) An Israeli organization has said that a record number of Jewish settler outposts were established in the occupied West Bank in 2024, describing it as “unprecedented” in the history of settlement construction.
The “Kerem Navot” organization clarified on Monday that 2024 had seen the establishment of 60 new settlement outposts in the West Bank areas, which is more than a fifth of all the illegal 284 outposts that were established in the West Bank since 1997, according to the Zman Israeli online newspaper.
Kerem Navot said that none of the outposts built in 2024 was legalized proactively or retroactively, unlike in past cases when illegal outposts had been approved and whitewashed retroactively.
“Despite the fact that the new outposts are illegal, most of them already have infrastructure, including a connection to Israel’s water pipeline. It is very simple – they pull pipes from old settlements. As for electricity, some have generators and solar panels, but some have already managed to get electricity from the power lines of old settlements,” Kerem Navot added.
