CAIRO (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Israeli, Qatari and US delegations are in Cairo for intensive talks on the next stages of the Gaza ceasefire, Egypt’s State Information Service said on Thursday.
“The relevant parties have begun intensive talks to discuss the next phases of the truce agreement, amid ongoing efforts to ensure the implementation of the previously agreed understandings,” it said in a statement.
Negotiators are also discussing ways to “enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid” to the battered Palestinian enclave, it added.
Egypt said negotiations on the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire have begun in Cairo.
Late yesterday and early today, Israel has released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners after a one-week delay.
Following the prisoners’ release, Hamas reiterated its full commitment to the provisions of the ceasefire agreement and its readiness to engage in talks over the second phase of the deal.
The Movement warned that any attempt by Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and his government to backtrack on the agreement or obstruct its implementation would only lead to more suffering for the captives and their families.
