WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed several mosques in the old city of Nablus at dawn Friday. They also prevented dawn prayers before arresting three citizens during the raid.
Local sources reported that the Israeli troops broke into several neighborhoods of the city amid heavy fire of teargas bombs and live ammunition.
The IOF also raided and violently searched several local homes and detained three citizens.
The Israeli violent raid into the mosques is considered a dangerous precedent, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The move was met with popular anger amid calls for confronting Israeli brutal policies and systematic war against holy sites.
The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the Israeli attack on the mosques before dawn prayers.
The Ministry of Endowments also called on the international community and international human rights institutions to intervene to stop and end such barbaric attacks against the mosques, many of which are historical heritage buildings.
