GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement said it agreed to release the Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, who holds the American citizenship, in addition to the bodies of four other dual nationals, as part of a proposal presented by mediators to resume negotiations.
This agreement came after the Movement received on Thursday a proposal from the mediators, and dealt with it responsibly and positively, before delivering its response to it at dawn on Friday.
Hamas emphasized its full readiness to start negotiations and reach a comprehensive agreement on the second phase’s issues, stressing the need to oblige Israel to fully implement its commitments.
Among the remaining prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance are five American-Israeli captives, including Edan Alexander (21 years old).
The Qatari capital is currently witnessing intensive talks with the participation of US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, in the presence of an Israeli technical delegation, after procrastination by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to move to the second phase of the agreement, which is supposed to end the state of war.
On Wednesday, Hamas announced the start of a new round of ceasefire negotiations, stressing that it is dealing with them responsibly and positively, including the ongoing negotiations with the US envoy.
Hamas expressed its hope that this round would result in tangible progress towards the start of the second phase of negotiations, paving the way for the cessation of the aggression, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip and the completion of the prisoner swap deal.
